!!!!!SALE PENDING!!!!!

I took this in trade at the Baltimore show this past March.  It is a firecracker cannon.  The barrel measures 5 5/8" long overall with about a .22 caliber bore.  The rear of the breech unscrews, a firecracker fuse is inserted into the hole in the breech plug, then the firecracker inserted into the breech and the knurled plug screwed in place.  Could maybe shoot a .22 caliber pellet or round lead ball.  Nicely made and polished.  The elevation does not work properly as the gears do not quite mesh.  The base is marked "TO.G.C.MILLER, A.L.B."  There was a piece of paper rolled up and stuffed into the base which reads "Hand made cannon by a Mr. Al Bass presented to George Carter Miller Ft Worth Texas 1933 Patterned after a shore battery"

This is one of the finest 1/2 scale Winchester Model 1873 octagon barreled rifles made by master miniature maker Mike Barrett of Minnesota that I have ever seen.  Absolutely 100% fully  functional!  19 7/16" long overall with a 10 1/16" rifled octagon barrel of .22 caliber.  Beautifully scroll engraved frame, sideplates, fore end cap, lever, dust cover, & buttplate.  Two gold bands inlaid into both the muzzle & breech ends of the barrel as well as the muzzle end of the magazine tube.  Finely checkered hammer spur.  The crescent buttplate with the sliding trapdoor for the cleaning rod which is not included.  The receiver, sideplates, buttplate, & screws are silver plated.  The magazine support, fore arm cap, loading gate, hammer, lever, dust cover, trigger, cartridge lifter, and buttplate trap are gold plated.  The barrel, magazine tube, front sight, rear sight, & rear sight elevator are nicely polished & blued.  The barrel with the Winchester barrel address in two lines.  The upper receiver tang with the "MODEL 1873"  markings.  The bottom of the cartridge lifter marked "44 CAL".  Unlike most Barrett's, this piece has the functional extractor and centerfire firing pin!  I believe this to be one of his earlier works.  I do not know who engraved or plated this piece, but I will call Mike and see if he knows.   If I can obtain any further information, I'll post it as soon as I can.  A great candidate for a NRA silver medal!
