This is a neat 1/2 scale Winchester 1894 short rifle. This would have a 20 inch octagon barrel instead of the standard 26 inch, and would have a shorter forearm. Basically carbine length with the stiffer octagon barrel and the crescent rifle buttplate. This piece has a saddle ring on the left side like many carbines. Short rifles with saddle rings are rare, but they did make them. This piece has much better than average wood. Fully functional and will feed, chamber, extract, and eject the included three miniature dummy cartridges. Steel parts are finished blue, oil finished walnut stocks. The barrel properly marked with the Winchester barrel address and the caliber markings. 19 1/8" long overall with a 10" barrel of .15 caliber. Serial # 015. This is a very seldom seen 1/3 scale Winchester Model 1866 saddle ring carbine by master miniature maker David Kucer of Montreal, Canada. 13 1/8" long overall with a 6 1/2" long barrel. Brass frame, sideplates, buttplate and buttplate trap door. Blue barrel, magazine, barrel bands, rear sight, saddle ring, saddle ring stud, lever lock, and screws. Casecolored hammer, lever, and trigger. Fully functional. Two leaf flip carbine rear sight. The four piece steel cleaning rod is included in the trapdoor compartment in the buttstock. The makers name stamped into the lower tang. The brass has aged nicely and looks like a vintage Winchester 1866 should! Nice straight grain oil finished walnut stock and forearm with just a little figure in the buttstock. Serial #2 marked on the front bottom of the frame just behind the forearm. Complete with the original Kucer walnut hinged top casing, French fit with a dark red velour lining. The front of the casing with two slide latches. The top right front of the lid inlaid with a brass plaque with the Kucer logo. The interior velour with some staining, probably from excess oil. This is the first one of these I've ever had the pleasure to handle. A real masterpiece!
